Madam Orange release “Parallax” on 23 October on Amalgam. It is the first record by the Chicago duo of Emily Rach Beisel, on bass clarinet and electronics, and Bill Harris, also on drums and electronics.

Half the record was taped live at the Hungry Brain and the other half at Marmalade. The two of them engineered and mixed it, and Edward Hamel mastered it.

“Mare Crisium” was premiered at Everything Is Noise; “Rilles” and “Apogee” had already come out before it, both with performance videos. “Throughout the track, we take turns alternately providing a textural layer or acting as a rhythmic provocateur,” Beisel says there, and calls that swapping of roles a core element of the duo.
