Ben Poole released “Post-Midnight Behaviour” on Friday 25 September through Gypsy Soul Records, on CD, vinyl and digital. There are ten tracks —nine songs, since the last is the radio edit of the single— and it is the British guitarist’s first new material in eight years. The single is “Runaway Souls”, sixth on the record, which he sings with Elles Bailey and which already has a video.
Poole plays more than 150 shows a year across twenty-odd countries, and says that is where the record came from: “everything has grown — my guitar style, technique, and voice, and how I hear music. The album is the sound of all those experiences coming together.”
The title comes from the same place: “I still get to unleash the guitar, but this time it sits inside something more atmospheric and reflective. That after-hours mood inspired the album title.” The record opens with “No Second Chances”; the seventh track, “Searching”, starts on the line “It’s 4 a.m.”
