Arthur Brown - Nature cover

Prophecy Productions · 4 September 2026

The title track opens the record and takes four minutes to plant the character: Brown recites, proclaims and sings in turns, and the band stops and starts as if the number were happening on a stage. Eight pieces, thirty-five minutes total, and the first full-length he’s put out since «Monster’s Ball» (2022).

Dan Smith is credited on every track but one, «With a Tear», and supplies the electronic bulk. «Bursting the Bubble» (3:04) is the most krautrock piece here: a synth sequence that never shifts, a dry drum underneath, and the voice cutting in and out as just another layer. On «Water on Stone» and the six-minute «Open Hearts», the machinery folds back and what’s left is a recitation over keyboards closer to spoken word than song.

The reservation is one of scale. «Enough» closes the record in two minutes fifty-one and «Seven» runs a little over three, and both stay at the sketch stage next to «The Source» or «Open Hearts», which do get room to develop. Listened to straight through, the record feels like it ends just as the character has finished introducing himself.

Prophecy Productions also puts it out in a deluxe edition. The three advance singles came staggered: «Nature» on 17 June, «Bursting the Bubble» on 22 July and «With a Tear» on 20 August.
